Software Engineer - Scrum Master (Germany, Darmstadt)


We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer who will also play the role of Scrum Master and help his or her team implement Scrum.
The Software Engineer develops software modules and interfaces (API). Taking advantage of his/her experience, he/she participates to the different steps of the development process: analysis, technical specification, design, development, unit testing, technical documentation and maintenance. The Software Engineer is able to work closely with peers in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Part of his/her time, the Software Engineer takes the Scrum Master role, being responsible to ensure that Scrum is understood and enacted by ensuring that the Scrum Team adheres to Scrum theory, practices, and rules. He/she supports team and changes interactions if needed to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team. The Scrum Master is responsible for monitoring the Scrum processes and Scrum meetings.

Job Description

  • Software Engineer

    • Analyze and review product requirements, and discuss technical feasibility
    • Build technical design proposals
    • Develop new software components or modify existing ones
    • Participate to peer code reviews
    • Plan, define and perform unit testing
    • Create or maintain technical documentation
    • Integrate individual software components developed by yourself and other members of the development team
    • Solve defects reported in the defect tracking system
    • Identify risks and discuss them with the Quality Control department for building adequate test plans
    • Make work estimates for the tasks assigned to you
    • Follow the EVS software development process (Source Control Management, Defect Tracking, Coding Rules, Continuous Integration)
  • Scrum Master

    • Guiding the team on how to use and how to get the most out of the Agile/Scrum practices and values
    • Organizing and facilitating the Scrum meetings: daily stand-up, sprint planning, sprint review & Sprint retrospective
    • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style and leading by example
    • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
    • Supporting and guiding the Product Owner in his tasks and best practices
    • Guiding the team on self-organizing and continuous improvements, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team
    • Removing impediments and/or guiding the team to remove impediments
    • Helping the team to maintain their Scrum tools (Storyboard, Action board, charts, backlogs, etc.)
    • Implementing with the Scrum team changes that increase productivity and product delivery
    • Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization



  • Engineer, Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering or Computer Science (high school or university)


Hard Skills

  • Must have:
    • Experience in C++ and Object-Oriented Programming
    • Experience in multithreading environment
    • Experience developing on Linux
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience in Broadcasting
    • Experience developing and debugging embedded Real-Time systems
    • Experience in system-level/architecture definition
    • Specialized knowledge in any area of SW development:
      • GPU programming (Cuda, OpenGL)
      • Network protocols (TCP, UDP, RTP…)
      • UI/UX design (Qt libraries)
      • Kernel driver development
