ESL and EVS create an immersive esports experience using cutting-edge broadcast technology
ESL, the leading esports producer, and EVS have won the award for Best esports production at the Broadcast Tech Innovation awards ceremony on October 17 in London. Their entry, Elevating the esports experience with cutting-edge broadcast technology describes the innovative live video workflow they’ve put together as a result of their long-standing partnership.
Used for the live production of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) event in Katowice in February 2019, which had record-breaking attendance and viewership, the EVS-powered workflow included the DYVI live production switcher, XT4K and XT3 live production servers, XFile3, IPDirector and Multireview. Live slow-motion replays were also part of the show, using LSM remote control panels.
The production was recognized for its ability to deliver a programming that is perfectly adapted to the unique needs of the esports world while integrating similar elements to those used in traditional sports broadcasts for highly engaging storytelling.
The Broadcast tech Innovation Awards celebrate collaboration, innovation and creativity in production, post-production and broadcast. They honor those responsible for the most exceptional and creative uses of technology across the following five themed categories: Sports, Immersive, Creative Excellence, Cloud and Media Management and Standout Talent.
