EVS Expands Operations into Canada

PR08-010 - Carl BOISLARD-LANOISEVS' importance in Canada has grown considerably in the past year, as broadcasters and production companies have come to rely on EVS technology more and more in their day-to-day operations.

"Canadian broadcasters and production companies have always been an important part of EVS' user base, and our relationship with these partners has increased exponentially over the past few years," said Fred Garroy, General Manager of EVS Americas. "We knew we needed to address this growth by providing our Canadian partners with a more local option for training, demos, and technical support issues."

The first EVS Canada office will be located in Montral and will be staffed by EVS-trained engineers.

EVS is proud to announce that Carl Boislard-Lanois, formerly of CBC Radio-Canada, will be the first member of the EVS Canada team, and will be serving as Senior Manager of Products and Systems Integration.

"Carl has been working in broadcasting and production for more than a decade, and his comprehensive experience in post production is particularly important to our team, considering the direction EVS is heading," said Garroy.

Integration with third-party tools has become a key component of EVS equipment lately, especially with news regarding the XT[2] server's native support of new HD codecs. Boislard-Lanois has worked extensively with post production tools from both companies, especially during his past few years as Chief Technician of Post Production at CBC Radio-Canada in Montral.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to represent EVS in Montral," said Boislard-Lanois. "I have worked closely with the EVS Americas team in the past, and am looking forward to joining them in their work in Canada."

Opening the new location is an essential preparation for EVS in light of major upcoming events such as the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the Winter Games in Vancouver, which will require extensive amounts of technical support and training for Canadian support teams prior to the events.
