Gearhouse Broadcast selects EVS' XT4K server for Columbus, its new US 4K truck
Columbus, Gearhouse Broadcast’s new 4K mobile unit is the latest high-end production facility to benefit from EVS’ XT4K UHD-4K live production servers. Officially launched in March 2017 to service the North American market, Columbus has been specifically designed for live 4K-UHD sports and entertainment productions. The IP-ready truck will be officially unveiled at NAB 2017 in the outdoor exhibit area on booth OE836.
The integration of the XT4K servers into Columbus offers Gearhouse unrivalled flexibility and versatility giving the facilities provider the ability to integrate it into the latest native-IP, traditional SDI or hybrid production workflows as needed.
The XT4K’s creative and connected capabilities help content owners, producers and broadcasters to deliver the most immersive viewing experiences of higher resolutions and more engaging formats including HDR. To create these experiences, the live production server delivers four channels of uncompressed UHD-4K or 12 channels of HD/1080p. More channel density can be added when using the XT4K in ChannelMAX mode. The server boasts HDR support from ingest to post with its 10-bit codec.
The server can record over 130 hours of 4K-UHD content all whilst keeping EVS’ signature speeds associated with its existing LSM highlights and replay production systems. Integrated native IP technology for I/O, 12G-SDI on a single wire, or QUAD-Link 3G-SDI protects investments while enabling users to build future-proof IP production infrastructures.
This flexibility gives users like Gearhouse Broadcast the ability to integrate the server into any production workflows - no matter the technology used for internal connectivity.
