When explaining why sustainability is part of the HR scope, Dounia said: "Empowering HR to drive our sustainability strategy at EVS ensures its integration as a fundamental element of our corporate DNA and culture, rather than just another project. Our objective is to nurture a sustainability-oriented mindset in all our endeavors."

Dounia has also been a driving force behind the creation of the ESG-Core Team, whose role is to monitor the progress and implementation of the sustainability strategy and provide reporting. The team is comprised of diverse voluntary team members drawn from various departments and functions across EVS. This collaborative approach has dismantled silos, making ESG a transversal, company-wide commitment rather than a vertical initiative.
Under her leadership, EVS has released two comprehensive sustainability reports, with the 2022 edition being a remarkable collaborative effort. Each member of the ESG Core Team contributed specific sections, resulting in a well-rounded representation of EVS' ESG performance in the report.
Dounia's proactive engagement with stakeholders, including customers and industry peers, has been pivotal in shaping EVS' sustainability strategy. Her approach has led to positive changes in engagement with customers' sustainability teams and collaborative workshops aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of EVS' solutions.
Dounia's motivation to champion sustainability efforts is rooted in her personal values and the aspiration to forge a better world for future generations. She firmly believes that businesses have a crucial role to play in instigating change and securing a sustainable future.
EVS' CEO Serge Van Herck, who was also present at the awards ceremony, commented, "Dounia’s unwavering commitment, exemplary leadership, and tireless efforts are leaving a profound mark, making this recognition truly well-deserved. EVS is now firmly on the right path, armed with a well-thought-out strategy to become the industry and thought leader regarding ESG. This success is a testament to her leadership and to all EVS team members contributing to this exciting journey."
Upon receiving the award, Dounia stated, "ESG is not a competition, it's teamwork. I'm delighted to see so many incredible individuals working on this critical topic. Let's continue to be bold. The more companies invest in this cause, the better it will be for our world. Let's work together and make a positive impact on the global stage."
