How EVS powered Staffordshire University’s cutting-edge facility

The University of Staffordshire, the first in the UK to offer a dedicated esports program, has taken its facilities to the next level with a state-of-the-art esports arena and studio. Designed and built by Digital Garage, this industry-standard production environment equips students with real-world, transferable skills for careers in esports and live broadcasting. Watch the video to see how EVS technology helped bring this innovative space to life.

Overcoming challenges with EVS solutions

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring flexibility across the two galleries, arena, and studio—while staying within budget and maintaining a user-friendly interface. This is where EVS technology delivered key solutions:

  • XT-GO® live production server: A single XT-GO® server was deployed to manage inputs and outputs across both galleries, ensuring an efficient, cost-effective workflow.
  • Neuron Bridge: This solution enables seamless bridging of SDI camera feeds from the esports arena and smaller studio to SMPTE 2110, allowing smooth integration with LSM-VIA® replay and highlights systems in each gallery.
  • Cerebrum control system: EVS’s broadcast control and monitoring system functions as the central hub, managing the signal routing across the entire setup.
Delivering an industry-standard learning environment

The goal of this project was to provide University of Staffordshire students with a professional-grade esports production facility, giving them hands-on experience with cutting-edge broadcast technology. Thanks to EVS’s innovative and versatile solutions, Digital Garage successfully created an environment that sets students apart and prepares them for the fast-evolving esports industry.
