Scope

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and oversee a diverse, multidisciplinary team of engineers, including specialists in UI, Software Development, FPGA and QA/Test Automation. This team is part of the EVS Media Infrastructure group developing features for Neuron and Cerebrum products.

 

Neuron is a powerful audio and video processor on which different identities can be deployed, giving customers flexibility to switch between signal processing, audio shuffling and multiviewer functionality.Cerebrum plays a key role in the production of major global sporting events, live programs such as news and studio management. Cerebrum allows customers to create customised workflows that operators can access through thick or thin clients and performs Control and Orchestration of Broadcast Systems, routing and tallying signals across SDI, IP and Hybrid technologies as well as the control of third-party devices.

Your role will encompass both team leadership and technical guidance, ensuring the successful delivery of projects while fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment. You will be responsible for empowering your team, promoting professional growth, and aligning their efforts with organizational goals. Your team will work with remote teams for Neuron in the Netherlands and Cerebrum in the United Kingdom.

  • Continuous Improvement: Partner with peers to drive process enhancements, modernize workflows, and implement valuable improvements within the department.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication between the transversal team and the broader organization, ensuring alignment and transparency.

 

Technical Guidance

  • Expertise & Strategy: Leverage your technical expertise in one of the team’s core disciplines (e.g. Software, FPGA or QA) to guide decision-making and support the development of future-proof strategies that align with team objectives and constraints.
  • Modern Practices: Advocate for and implement modern engineering practices, tools, and methodologies to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Bridge gaps between different engineering disciplines, ensuring seamless collaboration and shared goals.

 

Profile

  • After a bachelor's degree in computer science or electronics design (or equivalent) and a solid experience in one of these fields, you want to actively lead the development of innovative products and solutions applied to the video broadcasting domain.
  • You are capable of managing a team of engineers working in an Agile environment. Preferably you have experience with distributed teams. 
  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar leadership role, with a strong background in managing multidisciplinary teams (Software, FPGA, QA/test automation) in an Agile / SAFE environment.
  • Deep technical expertise in at least one of the team’s core fields (e.g. software development, FPGA design, or QA/test automation).
  • Strong leadership skills, with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and empowering team members to reach their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a talent for fostering collaboration and alignment across teams and departments.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement, with a commitment to driving continuous innovation and efficiency.
  • Experience in budget management, recruitment, and resource allocation, ensuring optimal team performance and project delivery.
  • A passion for fostering a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and professional development.

Languages:

  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of Portuguese, Dutch or French is an asset
