Applied Electronics selects EVS’s in-venue production solution for gameday entertainment at the Calgary Saddledome

When Calgary Sports & Entertainment Corporation (CSEC) set out to modernize the in-venue production technology at the iconic Calgary Saddledome, they aimed to deliver a next-level gameday experience for fans. As the owner of five Calgary-based professional sports franchises and operator of the Scotiabank Saddledome, CSEC needed a solution that could meet the demands of a year-round venue—home to the Calgary Flames (NHL), Calgary Wranglers (AHL), Calgary Hitmen (WHL), and Calgary Roughnecks (NLL).

To bring this vision to life, CSEC partnered with leading systems integrator Applied Electronics, who selected EVS’s LiveCeption® solution to power the Saddledome’s new production system.

The EVS Solution

At the heart of the upgrade is EVS’s XT-VIA® server, renowned for its unmatched speed, reliability, and loop recording technology—ensuring live productions of the highest quality. Complementing this is the LSM-VIA® replay and highlights system, the latest evolution of EVS’s industry-leading replay technology, built on over 30 years of innovation and trusted by top-tier broadcasters and venues worldwide. It significantly enhances operator efficiency and storytelling capabilities.

Adding a layer of innovation, the solution includes XtraMotion®, EVS’s GenAI-powered replay effects engine. This cutting-edge tool enables production teams to generate super slow-motion replays from any camera feed, apply cinematic shallow depth of field effects, and eliminate motion blur—transforming live footage into visually stunning moments that captivate audiences.
