Senior Data Engineer

Scope

Our mission as a Corporate Digital Transformation team is to support EVS activities by improving business processes, managing corporate applications, structuring, and governing corporate data. The modernization of our legacy data architecture into an Azure data platform, the definition of a new data governance and the reinforcement of the data team highlight our willingness to unlock the power of data and to become a fully data-driven company.

The Senior Data Engineer’s role is to collect data from various data sources and to convert it into integrated information usable for analytics and data purposes. He delivers trusted and documented data products that meet internal customer needs from understanding the requirements to deployment of the solution. He is involved in the implementation and maintenance of the data platform and proactively monitors it to ensure the data availability.  

Job Description

The senior data engineer will be part of the data team and will work under the guidance of the Data & BI Coordinator.  He/She will maintain and enrich our data platform within the Azure Synapse environment while adhering to development standards. His/her role will be to : 

• Collaborate with key stakeholders (Data owners, reports owners, data stewards) to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Design and develop data models, data pipelines, and data transformation processes within Azure Synapse.
• Optimize and tune data processes for performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Deploy new pipelines into production (DevOps CICD, ...).
• Contribute to the definition of state-of-the-art data architecture in Azure.
• Implement and maintain robust security solutions to protect data assets.
• Ensure that all relevant technical and functional documentation is up to date.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve any issues related to data infrastructure and pipelines.
• Act as a referent for other data engineers.

Profile

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering in Microsoft Azure environment.
• Certification DP-203: Data Engineering on Microsoft Azure is a plus.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French is a plus)

Technical skills :

• Must have 
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency with Azure Synapse Analytics and its components.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and lake house.
  • Deep understanding of Azure DevOps.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and other data querying languages.
• Nice to have
  • Microsoft D365 (Customer Engagement and Finance & Operations) knowledge is a significant asset.
  • Experience in working with 0365, Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps and UML diagrams/BPMN annotations will ease the onboarding.
