Scope

The Head of Group Accounting is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations across all locations. The role ensures consistency in financial practices, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial leadership. The Head of Global Accounting leads the worldwide accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and standardized accounting policies across all 20 global offices. This role is critical in aligning financial operations with corporate strategy, managing international tax and compliance matters, and driving operational efficiency in financial processes.

Job Description

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee global financial reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS, GAAP, or other relevant standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes.
  • Maintain compliance with local tax laws, international financial regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Manage audit processes (internal & external) and coordinate with auditors across all jurisdictions.

Accounting Operations

  • Standardize accounting policies, controls, and processes across all global offices.
  • Ensure proper cash flow management, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Lead financial systems implementation & integration for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial risks.

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Manage and mentor a global accounting team, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and executive leadership on financial strategies.
  • Partner with regional finance heads to drive financial efficiency and business growth.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and digital transformation in accounting.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with international tax regulations, transfer pricing policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Work with tax advisors and legal teams on cross-border transactions and tax planning.
  • Oversee VAT, corporate tax filings, and other local statutory requirements.

Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) & Expansion

  • Support due diligence and integration of new acquisitions or office expansions.
  • Assess financial risks in new markets and provide guidance on structuring operations efficiently.

Profile

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in international accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Ability to mentor and manage diverse teams in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting under IFRS and BE GAAP
  • Proven track record in multinational financial consolidation and reporting
  • Strong experience with ERP systems (preferably Microsoft D365)
  • Experience managing global finance teams across different time zones
  • Worked in a multinational corporation with multiple global offices
  • Background in process automation, AI-driven financial analytics, or ERP implementation
  • Exposure to mergers, acquisitions, and due diligence processes
  • Accuracy and precision
  • Able to work under tight deadline
  • Willingness to travel about 10-15%
  • Fluent in French and in English. Working knowledge of Dutch and/or German is a plus
