Scope
We are looking to expand our R&D team for the development of Neuron product line. The Neuron platform is our new state-of-the-art high-speed processing board with 100Gb interfaces, 2 FPGA’s and a dual core ARM running Linux. It is used as basis for all our Neuron audio and video processing products, like the Bridge, Convert, Protect, Compress, Shuffle and View.
The Neuron development program consist of the 4 agile teams based in Gilze, the Netherlands, with all kinds of competences hardware-, software- and FPGA developers and system test.To accelerate the Neuron development we want to create a new agile team based in EVS Porto that will work closely together with the teams in the Netherlands. This team will also consist of FPGA-, software- and and system testers.The development processes are based on SAFe using the latest technologies and our build and test systems are fully automated.
As an Engineering manager, acting as a servant leader, you are accountable for providing guidance, coaching the team members and developing the people’s competencies within the team; helping them consistently deliver working solutions to the standards EVS expects. You are also responsible to help optimizing the task allocation of the team, based on business priorities and team member's competencies.
Job Description
As Engineering Manager, you will manage a multi-disciplinal group of engineers (FPGA, SW and QA / Test Automation engineers). It is a mixed and transversal group of people assigned to one (or to different) agile team(s) of the Orange Program. Your tasks include People & Team Management:
- Empower team members and support the organization by preserving well-being, managing skills and improving performance
- Coach and mentor team members on business and soft skills
- Help team members in reaching a high level of autonomy
- Ensure the team members are aware and using of the Company processes and practices
- Is accountable for enabling the development and training of the team members
- Is accountable for developing the budget plan, equipment, and infrastructure order together with the Head of Engineering
- Is accountable for recruitment
- Ensure no one person in the team is solely accountable for any critical task or activity and ensure knowledge sharing within the team
- With the contribution of external stakeholders, supports the definition of yearly objectives, assess team members’ achievements
- Participate actively and contribute to transversal initiatives with the objective to bring valuable improvements for the teams, the department and the Company
- Together with peers, support and drive department in his Continuous Improvement, by establishing valuable improvements and processes
- Technical expertise in one of the field of activity of the team
- Support teams in defining the future-proof strategies that best match their objectives and constraints
- Promote modern development practices in the team
- Ensure communication between the transversal team and the rest of the organization
Profile
- After a bachelor's degree in computer science or electronics design (or equivalent) and a solid experience in one of these fields, you want to actively lead the development of innovative products and solutions applied to the video broadcasting domain.
- You are capable of managing a team of engineers working in an Agile environment. Preferably you have experience with distributed teams.
